This kriya straightens and laterally realigns the spine. It stimulates the body’s magnetic field and activates the right side of the body. The beating of the heart affects the left side of the body more than the right. To compensate for this activity, the Balancing kriya is done only on the right side of the body. An additional benefit during this kriya is taking the breath through the left nostril. Breathing through the left nostril activates the right hemisphere of the brain, which helps to balance the personality emotionally and intellectually. The Balancing kriya should be performed a maximum of 5 times.

  1. Stand erect with the feet at a slight distance from each other. The arms should be kept straight and touching the sides of the body, with the hands closed in fists, the thumbs pointing downwards.
  2. Block the right nostril by closing it from underneath with the right thumb, without exerting pressure onto it. Inhale fully through the left nostril.
  3. Hold the breath and lift the right knee so that the thigh is parallel to the ground. Bring the right fist to the right shoulder.
  4. With a short and quick movement, lift the right knee closer to the right elbow.
  5. While exhaling through the nose and keeping the rest of the body steady, throw the right hand and foot forward with a jerk. Spread the fingers and touch the ground very lightly with the toes of the right foot. The right arm and leg should be pointing towards the ground and parallel to each other.
